I have just got back to Blighty after an incredible off road adventure tour in Cambodia. This is a country that is largely unspoilt and, being so far off the beaten track, remains little known. I found an exotic, mystical and enchanting land cradled between the commercially over-developed tourist haunts of Thailand and Vietnam.
Cambodia has an amazing history that includes the spectacular ancient ruins of The Angkorian empire, remote hill tribe villages and the darker days of the Khmer rouge regime.
Global Enduro has set up an awesome expedition that includes the southern section of the ‘Ho Chi Minh Trail’, the old ‘Kings Highway’ and the notorious ‘Death Highway’. You will ride along the banks of the mighty Mekong with river crossings in primitive dug-out pirogues (canoes) - a trail reminiscent of the movie ‘Apocalypse Now’. You will visit vast, virtually cut off, hidden temples that date back more than a thousand years. These have only recently been rediscovered and are accessible only by off road bikes and the toughest 4 x 4’s. On our final leg we ride along South East Asia’s very own Route 66 arriving in Siem Reap for some welcome and much needed R and R.
