The founder
In 2001 I gave up my city career much to the amazement of my colleagues, friends and family many of whom thought I was going insane! I’ll go insane if I stay in ‘The City’ was my answer, I needed to connect, have adventure and do something I could be truly proud of. They couldn’t understand why I would give up a Directorship, a huge salary and ‘all the toys’ to ride around India with some crazy half formed idea in my head. The crazy idea was to make a difference in my life, not just line my own pocket and waste my life sitting at a desk forever more. I took 2 years to plan the initial Enduro India ride and rode 15000kms across India putting together an awe-inspiring route and a team of people that are now like a family to me. The last 11 Enduro India events have been life changing, India is part of my identity now as are all the people that make it possible each year. Special thanks to everyone that has helped me including the 1000 participants that have enabled us to donate £1.2 million pounds to charities I believe in.
India is in my blood and it's the perfect place to ride a motorcycle. The terrain is always changing and you simply never know what magic each new day will bring. The experiences are in stark contrast to each other, ranging from dense wildlife reserves to high mountains, from hot arid desert plains to chaotic cities, that's what's so refreshing about riding in India. You never settle into a boring routine and it opens you up to new experiences.
Riding en masse across this type of terrain with 100 like minded people is a very special feeling. 2012 will be the 12th event and we are so excited to ride in celebration of our 10th birthday, the team are buzzing at the thought of meeting old friends again and I am also excited at the thought of all the new ones we’re going to meet and welcome into what we call ‘ the enduro family’. If you’re reading this don’t hesitate – this is going to be an amazing birthday party!
Thanks to everyone that has helped us on our journey towards being 10 years old.
