Itinerary - 21st January to 4th February 2012

The following itinerary is subject to change at short notice.

Day 1: Arrival at Hotel Baywatch, Colva beach, Goa

After your long travels, grab a shower and a well earned drink - this evening you’ll be introduced to the team and have a brief run down on the warm up day’s protocol.Day 2: Warm up day - Hotel Baywatch, Colva beach, Goa

After breakfast you will be formally introduced to your trusty Enfield, before tackling India’s chaos on the brief warm up ride. Keep your eyes on the road and expect the unexpected. Relax and take it easy, please make sure that any questions and concerns are directed to your team leader as it’s only then that they can help you. At day’s end you will gather together for the formal presentations, this will be an in depth description of the rally and the charities you’re supporting.o
Day 3: 195kms: Hotel Baywatch to Hotel Lotus, Karwar, Karnataka

Today is of course day 1 of your actual adventure, expect a relatively ‘easy’ day of around 190km – be on your guard though as this is the first day that you are riding your bike for the entire day. The route is beautiful, you’re leaving the stunning beaches of Goa behind and climbing into the cool Western Ghat mountain range. Watch out for snakes, you should see plenty of cobras as you hit the mountains and the rice growing areas.o
Day 4: 260kms: Karwar to RNS Residency, Murudeshwar. Karnataka

This morning will see an earlier start and the day demands more concentration and commitment. You will experience wonderful early morning light and beautiful villagers will wave and smile at you all day – making your challenge seem all the easier. Keep focused and alert, you can always get caught out! When riding through villages pay special attention to children and animals in the road.
Day 5: 250kms: Murudeshwar to Silent Valley, Kalasa. Karnataka

Today is an unbelievable ride deeper into India’s rural heart, it is one of my favourite rides and the team love it, the time spent riding will now start to take its toll and hydration is very important – as are slightly earlier, alcohol ‘free’ nights! The scenery today is stunning and sees us visiting the 16th century fort at Nagara before heading to the staggering location of Kalasa, heavenly riding leads us to a wonderful jungle retreat high up in the mountain forest on the border of Kudremukh National Park. The accommodation tonight is the most basic of the trip and some of us (team included) will be sleeping under the stars. Keep your ears open for leopards and elephants in the camp especially when going to the toilet at night!
Day 6: 230kms: Kalasa to Kadkani River Resort, Coorg, Karnataka

Another full-on day sees us head South to the teak wood forests and coffee plantations of Coorg, known as The Scotland of India. Tonight we will stay at the peaceful resort of Kadkani in the midst of vast coffee estates on the banks of the Cauvery river.
Day 7: 175kms: Kadkani to Hotel Regaalis, Mysore. Karnataka

The diverse nature of India is highlighted today! We visit the stunning Buddhist Golden Temple at the Tibetan refugee town of Bylakuppe, ride through remote rural villages and towards the end of day we reach the regal city of Mysore. Mysore is a wondrous city where the British had one of their summer seats of Government during the days of the Raj. It is a fascinating place with many secrets, find out as much as you can about this wonderful destination. Before dinner take a rickshaw to the palace to see it illuminated and then discover the magic that is Mysore at night, a safe, friendly and hectic city.
Day 8: 120kms: Mysore to Jungle Hut / Retreat. Masinagudi. Tamil Nadu

Today you can relax and experience your first truly short day. A late start will give you another chance to further explore Mysore or perhaps visit the Nandi bull temple. We then have an easy ride through the tiger reserves of Bandipur and Mudumallai to arrive at the wildlife sanctuary area of Masinagudi by early afternoon. The area is stunning, simply full of wildlife, even if you are a hardened traveller this place will make an impact. Feel free to party hard tonight as we also have a rest day tomorrow. You’ve earned it after several days riding.
Day 9: Jungle Hut / Retreat, Rest day

This time is yours to enjoy the pool, take a wildlife drive, go into town, treat yourself to a spa, or simply have a few beers with your new friends.

Day 10: 295kms: Masinagudi to Carlton Hotel, Kodaikanal

Now we pick up the pace again and long distances become the norm for the rest of the challenge – this event is called Enduro India, now you’ll understand where the enduro bit comes from! You’ve had your rest period, now it’s up and at-em for the final push. The final 3 days riding are mind blowing, incredible, full of tired but elated people, emotional and proud at what they’ve already achieved. We should be ready to do ourselves the justice of ending this event in style. Today’s ride is long, hot and sweaty. Concentration is always the requirement in India but especially today during the climb to Kodaikanal, you need to be 110% on your game. Kodaikanal is another fascinating hill station, actually the only hill station run by the Americans during the British occupation of India. The ride to the top of this ‘hill’ is beyond description. I’ll say no more.

Day 11: 185kms: Kodaikanal to Silver Tips Hotel, Munnar. Kerala

The penultimate and without doubt most beautiful days riding on the entire rally. Today is almost too good, with so much beauty that your eyes can see, the brain can store but the heart takes months to feel and interpret. It is a sparkly, spiritual day full of vivid colours, experiences and emotions that will last a lifetime. The highlight of the trip as far as 90% of the participants are concerned is the tea plantations of Munnar. The day needs to be seen to be believed.

Day 12: 240kms: Munnar to Lakesong Resort, Kumarakom. Kerala

After so many shared experiences, all the drama of fundraising and completing the route we find ourselves about to tackle the very last day of Enduro India. We will leave as early as possible today to ensure a safe and exciting finish to the rally, 240kms will feel like a lot more due to the fact you have now been riding for 10 days. Emotions run high for the finishing ride in, make sure you don’t let that get the better of you as to fail now and miss the finish would be terrible – and don’t think we haven’t seen that happen before – every year someone makes a mistake on the last day and misses the final ride in. Think over 100 bikes with their horns blowing, local people waving and cheering and you get just 1% of the goose bumps you’re going to feel when you’re actually part of the finishing ceremony.

Day 13: Kumarakom

The euphoria has now passed from full tilt to a warm glow, the riding has finished, you’ve made it! Depart early morning for flight to Mumbai and overnight stay.

Day 14: Flight home to UK
